Lily of the Pond - Nuphar polysepala

The Western Yellow pond lily, Nuphar polysepala, has a wide range in North America, from Alaska to southern California and eastward to Colorado. The large circular-ovate floating leaves (pads) may be up to 45 cm across, while the flowers are usually around 8cm wide. The seeds were used as a kind of popcorn by First Nations groups, and they were also ground for flour.Family: Nymphaeaceae, the Water Lily Family
